LANAP is the only FDA cleared protocol to treat periodontal disease and can actually regenerate bone using a laser! The PerioLase is a laser that was specifically designed to target and vaporize the bacteria that causes periodontal disease. LANAP is a very patient friendly procedure that does not require incisions or sutures. It is a much more comfortable procedure than traditional osseous surgery with a much quicker recovery time.
Our doctors first start with a consultation where they measure the pockets around each tooth. Healthy pocket depths are 1, 2, and 3 millimeters, 4 to 5 mm means there is inflammation (gingivitis) and is generally treated with a deep cleaning, but when pocket depths are 6 or greater, this means there is severe bone loss in that area and treatment is necessary. During your initial consultation you will be presented with a treatment plan that has all the costs associated and follow up visits. Usually it will consist of a surgery that can range from 1 to 3 hours as well as four follow up cleanings with one of our laser trained dental hygienists.
This treatment can be used to treat the entire mouth, a single area of concern, as well treating compromised implants (a procedure known as LAPIP = Laser Assisted Peri-Implant Protocol).
If you are concerned about bone loss, if you have inflamed or bleeding gums, schedule a consolation with one of our doctors today and see if laser therapy is right for you.
