Gingivectomy

A gingivectomy is a surgical procedure that removes excess or diseased gum tissue to improve oral health and enhance the appearance of the gums. It is commonly done to treat gum disease, reduce deep gum pockets, lengthen the teeth, or correct a “gummy smile.”

During the procedure, our team numbs the area, removes the excess tissue, and then smooths and sutures the remaining gums. Recovery can involve mild discomfort, swelling, and bleeding, but with proper care, including antibacterial mouthwash and avoiding smoking, patients can enjoy improved oral health and a more aesthetically pleasing smile!

Frenectomy

A frenectomy is a minor surgical procedure that removes or modifies the frenulum, a small band of tissue in the mouth that can sometimes restrict movement. There are two types of frenectomies: lingual and labial. A Lingual frenectomy corrects tongue ties, improving speech and eating habits. A labial frenectomy addresses lip ties that may affect appearance and gum health.

A frenectomy can improve tongue and lip mobility, clearer speech, and better overall oral health. Each procedure is quick and typically painless, and it is done under local anesthesia. Patients can typically expect a smooth and fast recovery with minimal disruption!
